Because they are not like other mass-market dating services, numbers do not tell the whole story about eHarmony.

(1) there is more of an emphasis on looking beyond your city.
(i.e. who would not go the distance for their one soulmate?)

(2) there is less focus on quantity and more focus on quality.
(i.e. better "needle-finding" requires a smaller "haystack")

However, while not as large as some mass-market personals, eHarmony's database size is large enough for many matches.

And they are growing rapidly. Per an email for eHarmony, their 1,500,000th users signed up only three months after they reached 1,000,000.
