We really tried to find more singles services for Anchorage and the great state of Alaska. For a brief moment, we thought we stumbled across a speed dating event at Pre-Dating, but it was a page with a "Date to Be Announced Soon" message. Granted, you can join an Event Notification List, and if enough people do the same, an event could break out at any time. In the meantime, online services are probably the easiest way to bridge the gap between yourself and fellow single Alaskans.
Due to the small population and geographic isolation, singles in Anchorage are among those with the most to gain from the major dating sites such as Yahoo Personals and Match.com. We saw an Alaska-only site once, but it only had a half-dozen members. In contrast, the "majors" have thousands of profiles, which is very impressive compared to to the total population, especially the total single population, in the Anchorage area.
